A significant part of the diet comprises the staple food of people living in countries near the Mediterranean Sea (Vats, 2019).

- High serum potassium from citrus fruits and red wine cause heartburn.
Recommendations: people living with mild heart problems and other chronic diseases can benefit from the diet. However, a controlled manner in the consumption of the diet is key to realizing key benefits.
